These 2 movies are different in every way, except that they both revolve around a couple.
Rye Lane David Jonsson & Vivian Oparah meet cute: He’s crying over his breakup in a bathroom stall and she overhears him. Thus begins their stroll thru London as they get to know each other. Two things set this film apart: The charming chemistry between the leads and director Raine Alllen-Miller’s decision to add quirky background action, vivid colors and wide lenses. These little moments add a quirky element to their already peculiar but engaging personalities. This is basically a strolling love story with a likeable couple falling for each other. NOTE: Look for Colin Firth in brief cameo as a street vendor with a stall named “Love, Guactually,” which is a reference to his hit movie “Love Actually.” (3 / 5)
Murder Mystery 2 I couldn’t recall the original movie, so I went back and discovered that I never finished it, so that says something about my opinion of their original flick. Anyway, Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler return as a couple who’s trying to establish their private eye agency. When a billionaire friend invites them to a wedding in Paris, a kidnapping sets things into motion. As crime capers go, it’s pretty standard. Some of the locations are attractive, but it’s really all about the starring duo and their chemistry. They’re both doing their typical shticks, which works if you like their style. Some of the action sequences are fun and there are amusing moments, but since it revolves Aniston and Sandler, you have to enjoy them to enjoy this. (2.5 / 5)
