Unfrosted

The film is a highly-fictionalized version of the competition between Kellogg’s and Post  over the rollout of a toaster pastry (later to be named Pop-tart). Jerry Seinfeld co-wrote, directed and stars as a Kellogg’s exec in 1963. He fills the punch lines and character moments with his wry comic sensibilities and adds a great cast of delightful actors, including Jim Gaffigan, Melissa McCarthy, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer and Peter Dinklage. There’s even a cool deepfake Johnny Carson. Some moments push reality to silliness, but it doesn’t stray much from a traditional approach to the form with a lively pace and non-stop gags, many of which land. The movie isn’t great cinema, but it’s consistently funny entertainment. 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)
