John Owen Lowe was inspired to create this series based on his own relationship with his father, Rob Lowe. Rob plays the genius behind a hi-tech biological firm and John Owen plays his son, who returns home to work in his father’s company. Their relationship forms much of the show’s story, but the expansion to the workforce includes some comic gems, including Sian Clifford with her dry British delivery and Aaron Branch as the clueless assistant. Toss in a pair of twins who look nothing like each other and Fred Armisen as the twisted houseguest. On top of all this, Rob has never been funnier and John Owen, who looks kinda like Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle) with some of dad’s mannerisms. Their dynamic forms a solid center to the show. Not only is the entire cast skilled at generating the most laughs out of every line, they’re helped by the sharp, clever writing. Combine this with a snappy pace and splashes of eccentricity and you get a truly funny, but simultaneously sweet comedy. (Eight 30-minute episodes) (4.5 / 5)
