Like his song parodies, Weird Al Yankovic’s life story upends the biopic formula in weird and wonderful ways. Daniel Radcliffe does a delightful job as the singer and he’s supported by an amusing cast including Rainn Wilson, Quinta Brinson, Jack Black, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Al himself (see if u can spot him). What makes the movie so much fun is the crazily confident way it’s co-written with Yankovic and directed by Eric Appel. They embrace the absurdity of the story, resulting in laugh-out-loud moments. Like his songs, Yankovic’s biopic is both silly and smart. Be sure to sit thru the credits for a funny new original song about the credits! (4.5 / 5)
