Vin Diesel is the title character, leading the earthly battle against witches…most importantly the resurrected Queen Witch. The film starts out promisingly with mysterious magic spells, cool special effects and a few noisy confrontations. About midway thru, a painfully predictable plot and tedious talky sequences drag down the action. Tossing in Elijah Wood and Michael Caine adds a bit of class, but by the time it’s over, things have deteriorated into unexciting fights and dreary drivel.
