Since the venerable French Film Festival didn’t happen this year, the Byrd Theatre has created a new virtual opportunity: the Cinematheque Virtuelle French Film Series. They partnered with the Alliance Francaise Richmond to offer a series of films that are either new releases and new to screening. Costs for viewing each one is between $8 – $12.
The movies are available starting 5/27 with “On a Magical Night,” with additional films available each day through 6/9.
This is part of the Byrd’s Virtual Screening Room, which launched in March. It allows people to rent films and watch them from home during Virginia’s Stay at Home order (and help the Byrd Theatre monetarily). The individual distribution companies are splitting the net revenues from rentals with the Byrd Theatre.
