The title alone frames it in teen world and the plot follows many similar teen flicks: Two high school besties dream of their fabulous Bat Mitzvah parties, but conflict over a boyfriend adds teen angst. As the father, Adam Sandler offers his typical off-hand comments, while working his sloppy, baggy look. The gimmick is that 3 women in his real family have roles: Sadie and Sunny play his daughters and his wife Jackie is the mother of the best friend. Seeing these 2 daughters cringing and yelling at their father provides the best humor (and prob hit close to home). There aren’t a lot of outright laughs, some of the gags don’t land and a few cameos try too hard, but the energy never lags and the fun performances keep it effervescently entertaining. (3 / 5)
