Even though this is billed as a thriller, it’s really more of a bizarre folk tale and that seemingly comforting title is certainly a misnomer. It’s set in 19th century Macedonia, when a young woman is transformed to a witch. After that, she proceeds to experience human existence, as she assumes the bodies of several people, including a man and a child (Noomi Rapace is one of her victims). The whole affair has a creepy experimental film vibe. There are some mildly gory moments as she consumes the entrails of her victims, but nothing especially gruesome. The voiceover narration and disjointed narrative create a darkly poetic muse on life. This film is really aimed more at art cinema enthusiasts, NOT horror fans. (Macedonian with subtitles) (3 / 5)
